I have had a lovely afternoon and early evening. After meeting little Abigail and having our first cuddle we arrived home and had a visit from my youngest granddaughter O along with her mum and dad. They had brought my Mothers Day gifts today since we are away tomorrow. I also got to spend a lovely nostalgic couple of hours watching a film called 'Yanks', which I first remember seeing probably 1980ish starring Richard Gere. He was the most gorgeously handsome young man and I remember having the most massive crush on him after watching the film. Actually he is still a very handsome man just a little older and greyer!!

What do you think ladies? The film was set I believe in and around Lancashire, with part of it being filmed in Yorkshire, I remember reading that the film company recruited lots of extras from the queue at the Job Centre in Leeds!! It was about the United States G.I's who were stationed in Britain during the 2nd World War prior to being sent to war. It's a touching story, a love story really but with lots of humour thrown in. It is one of my favourite feel good films. Does anyone out there remember it? What would you say are your feelgood films?
I remember we watched that movie in our very first house!

I watched it at the cinema when it came out. I went with my sister and we cried buckets at the end -I've been smitten with Richard Gere ever since! I bought the film for my Mum last Christmas as it is her favourite film of his- she has already watched it numerous times since Christmas! I love ' Big' - it never fails to put a smile on my face when I watch it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've seen it, but I do love Richard Gere. I like my films to have a happy ending, isn't that the point of sitting down for a couple of hours to escape reality :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love Yanks, I though Richard was (and still is) gorgeous. Sense and Sensibility is one of my favourite movies, I can watch it over and over again.
ReplyDeleteI love Richard Gere, he's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite films is "Anna and the King" with Chow Yun Fat and Jodie Foster. Sumptuous!
Awwww, glad you had a lovely first cuddle.
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched Yanks but will do if I see it listed.
One film I watched recently has been added to my favourites "A Shine of Rainbows", "feel good" - yes but tissues needed too.
Carol xx

ReplyDeleteSame here. I saw him not too long ago on a breakfast in America show. Shorter than I realized and the hair is white and thinning. It was sort of nice to know he's aging as badly as the rest of us!
DeleteHi Anne.

Dear greetings, *Maristella*.

Yes, he is a very attractive man even as he ages. I like Mamma Mia the movie with Pierce Brosnan. He's always churned my butter so to speak.
